Budgets are valuable — they show you where you stand right now
A budget is one of the most useful tools a household can keep. It tells you, in plain numbers, where your money is going this month and whether this month is on plan. That clarity is genuinely hard to get any other way, and households that budget well have a real advantage.
If you already run a budget you trust, keep it. The point of this page isn't to talk you out of budgeting — it's to name the one thing a budget, by design, doesn't show you.
- A good budget answers 'am I on track this month?' — that's a question worth answering
- Knowing your real monthly spend is the foundation everything else builds on
- Households with a working budget are starting from a much stronger base
