Gyms have more members than they have capacity to serve — by design
A typical Planet Fitness has ~6,500 members in a space that can hold ~300. The model only works because most people pay and don't show up. Boutique studios are the same model with a higher price tag.
If you're going 3+ times a week and it's load-bearing for your physical and mental health, it's worth every penny. If you've been five times this year, the math says cancel and walk outside.
