How is my net worth calculated?
Assets minus liabilities, in plain English, plus how manual entries and Plaid balances combine.
Your net worth is the sum of everything you own (assets) minus everything you owe (liabilities). PeakWorth pulls a fresh snapshot every time your connected accounts sync — typically every 6–12 hours — and stores a daily roll-up so your trend chart is stable.
Assets we include
- Cash in checking, savings, and money-market accounts
- Investment account balances (brokerage, IRA, 401(k), HSA)
- Property values you've added manually (home, vehicle, other)
- Crypto holdings you've added manually or via a supported exchange
Liabilities we include
- Credit-card balances
- Mortgages, student loans, auto loans, personal loans
- Any debt you've added manually under Accounts → Add debt
Manual vs. connected
Manual entries are treated the same as connected balances — they show up in your dashboard, your reports, and your AI advisor context. The only difference is that you update them yourself; we don't auto-refresh them.
